Drooping sheoak

Drooping sheoak

A tree that grows in Freycinet NP near Wineglass Bay. It looks like a pine and caught my eye for the special bark. But most likely, this tree is far from a pine. A visitor of this website, Simon Jeppesen, suggested it was Allocasuarina verticillata, the drooping sheoak. According pix and information Google delivered, this is likely to be correct, even though my pictures do not show the parts that would make it clear. And by now, the encounter with the tree is incredible 8 years ago so the memory is somewhat faint. Thanks Simon for the answer!
